First Father's Day

by Andrea from California

This year for Father’s Day, I want it to be special for many reasons.

First, this will be my husband's first Father’s Day since we have a 5-month-old. My second reason is because this is how I have been honoring my father since he passed away 17 years ago. I know this year I will be honoring my father-in-law, who unfortunately lost his life due to COVID in February. I don’t have a tradition, well I don’t call it one.

My dad is buried in a different state, so we can’t always decorate for him. With my sisters and mom, we love to write him letters and put them near his pictures that we have of him, and then we like to store them in a box. This year, I am planning to decorate for my husband's dad at his spot by bringing him balloons and leaving him his favorite meal from his favorite fast food place.

At home, I am planning to decorate the kitchen for my husband and have his presents and his favorite food ready for Father’s Day! He loves tacos de carne asada with some of his grandma's salsa, so I will be having that ready!

My baby is not old enough to help with activities, but I will be making a footprint of our baby girl's feet for my husband! He always talked about having her footprints every 6 months. I want my husband to have an amazing Father’s Day since it is his first, but also the first time without his dad here for Father’s Day.

What do you plan on doing for Father’s Day?

Hello everyone! My name is Andrea Lacarra, and I am from Desert Hot Springs, CA. I am 20 years old, and I am a first time mom to a 5-month-old baby girl. This is my first time ever writing for a blog. I am planning to make a lot more of these.
